“For a small company that has both file and block storage, it's nice to have SAN and NAS in one system.”

Scale’s Intelligent Clustered Storage (ICS) is a multi-protocol, unified and easily scalable technology that brings enterprise-class file and block-level services to the SMB. Offered on a growing, multi-density, multi-tier, interchangeable line of truly clustered, non-controller-based Storage Nodes (SN), ICS represents the next shift toward third-generation storage.
ICS reduces costs, increases control and makes storage management more convenient.
What We Offer
Scale’s storage solutions can help transform your storage environment by allowing you to consolidate file and block services into one system. Archive and virtualize from one system, all for one very low cost.
- Scale Storage Nodes with ICS
- SN 2TB, SN 4TB, and SN 8TB
- ICS with GPFS
- Configure as a SAN/NAS or both
- SAS / SATA available
- High Availability Option
Cost, Control and Convenience
The primary impetus behind the industry’s drive toward Gen 3.0 storage is the rapid growth of data. According to Berkeley’s School of Management, more data was created and stored in the last three years than in the last 40,000 years combined.
You’re feeling that pain.
When evaluating storage solutions, including ours, ask yourself these questions:
COST |
|
|
|

|
Does the solution reduce the costs of storage? |

|
Does the solution reduce the costs of expanding your storage pool? |

|
Does the solution reduce your management time and costs? |
Control
| |
| |
|

|
Does the solution increase the control you have over growth? |

|
Does the solution allow you to scale incrementally, by increments as small as 1TB? |

|
Does the solution allow your to run CIFS, NFS and iSCSI at the same time from every node without buying extra hardware or protocol licenses? |
Convenience
| |
| |
|

|
Does the solution have an easy-to-use GUI that doesn’t require command lines? |

|
Does the solution allow you to mix and match multiple node densities in a future-proof environment? |

|
Does the solution allow you to purchase only the storage you need, when you need it? |
What is Third Generation Storage?
Third generation storage has many definitions, but it always includes these four main characteristics:
-
Flexible, future-proof architecture. Storage systems created today should be compatible with tomorrow’s storage densities and be easily scalable. This means systems must work with changing drive sizes, densities, and configurations over time.
-
Non-controller based. Third generation storage systems are data-aware in a clustered environment that scales quickly and without complexity. Controller-based architectures are expensive and time-consuming to scale and manage.
-
Content aware. As technologies become more intelligent, third generation storage will do more than simply hold data.
-
Cost-effective. Combined with flexibility, third generation storage will be less costly to expand, cheaper to manage and increasingly less expensive to deploy.
Think about it: the future of storage is actually available today.

Scale Computing is serious about storage, IT budgets and IT SLAs. Our patent-pending TrueCluster™ technology combines commodity hardware with a clustered file system commonly found only in the world’s largest supercomputers. The result: IT managers can scale storage 1TB at a time in a migrationless environment that has no single point of failure and costs 70% less than other solutions on the market.
Spend your budget elsewhere, add storage without migrating data or disrupting services. Now that's infrastructure scaling the right way.
